2. Best Places To Visit in Bathinda: Damdama Sahib

Located in the Talwani Tehsil of Bathinda district, the place has very high religious importance. Situated 18 miles south of the city, it’s the place where Guru Gobind Singh Ji stayed for nine months and nine days. It’s called Damdama Sahib as Guru ji rested (took dam) here after firece battles of Anandpur Sahib, Chamkaur Sahib and Muktsar Sahib. Guru Teg Bahadur Ji had also visited this place.

Currently, the place serves as the headquarters for the Nihangs. There are 10 gurudwaras and 3 tanks here. The much-popular Baisakhi fair is also held here.

  • Nanksar Sarover: Associated with the first guru of Sikhs – Guru Nanak Dev Ji  . It’s believed that He visited this place in 1510 A.D.
  • Akalsar Sarover: It’s associated with the tenth guru of Sikhs-  Guru Gobind Singh Ji. It’s believed that a single sip of water from this sarover can heal many diseases.
  • Gurusar Sarover: It’s said that it was dug up under the orders of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.

3. Bir Talab Forest and Zoo

Bir Talab Forest is a reserved forest area which also has a zoological park in it. It’s a popular place for school picnics and is home to some rare and endangered animal species.

4. Bathinda Lake

One of the most popular picnic spots in the city, the lake is a place you must go to have a great time. You can do boating there and sometimes, even camel riding.

There are several street food shops there to appease your taste buds. The view of the lake, with thermal plants in the backdrop is serene and refreshing.

The park along the lake is where you can take your morning or evening stroll or just catch up with the snacks you have been missing out. There are also more recreational activities for kids in this park.

5. Rose Garden

It’s a good place to visit if you’re looking for spending some time with nature. A big park with lots of greenery – that’s what Rose Garden is.

6. Chetak Park

It’s located on the Barnala road, just outside the city in the Bathinda Cantt area. The park is maintained by army, is very clean and a great place for picnic. There are several activities that will entertain kids like horse riding, boating and karting. It also has a mini zoo.

7. Gurudwara Haji Rattan

It’s again a religious place. Guru Gobind Singh ji had visited this place and it is considered blessed. A lot of people go their to make a wish.

The gurudwara also has a sarover with lots of colorful fishes.
